Tyre checks and replacement
Your tyres are an important feature when it comes to road safety, as they are the only bond between your car and the road. They will help you to grip in adverse weather conditions and can also impact your handling in corners, as well as your breaking. Not only do tyres have an impact on safety, but also on your comfort as the inflation level and tread depth affects the smoothness of your journey.
Your safety is a top priority to Chevron Motors, so you can trust us to provide professional advice whatever your budget. We also offer a wide variety of tyres at a fair price.Book a Service
Book a Brake Check
Keeping your brakes in good condition is essential for your safety when driving.
Each time your brakes are used they are put under very high stress. Friction creates heat as your brake pads grip the discs to slow your vehicle down, which causes both the pads and the discs to wear out over time. The pads and discs will need to be replaced once they reach their minimum thickness levels.Book a Service
Air Conditioning checks and recharging
Your air conditioning system uses refrigerant gases which are pushed around a circuit, continually cooling your interior and pushing heat outside like a refrigerator.
However, the air conditioning system in your vehicle is more complex than a refrigerator and requires regular maintenance. The compressor, condenser, evaporator and filters will all require regular checking to keep the air conditioning system in working order.
Not only is air conditioning important for your comfort, but also your safety. In the colder winter months, the air conditioning system is ideal for heating the cabin and de-misting the windscreen. Automatically controlled air conditioning systems allow a constant temperature no matter the weather outside. It also filters out impurities such as dust and pollen from the air in your vehicle.Book a Service
Car Battery Checks and Replacement
Your car battery is a key component used to power all the electronic systems in your car. The starter motor, lights and air conditioning all draw power from the battery. Whilst driving, the battery is constantly recharged by the alternator, which in turn is activated by the timing belt.
With regular use, the battery begins to show signs of wear and has reduced efficiency. When this happens, you will have to replace the battery.Book a Service
Lights, Bulbs and Wiper Blades
Good visibility is vital on the road to enable you to see and be seen. To provide the best visibility in poor road conditions, the headlights, daytime running lights, brake lights, fog lights and indicators all need to be in good working order. During your MOT, the correct beam alignment and functioning bulbs will be checked and something as small as a faulty bulb could cause MOT failure.
Your wiper blades will also need to be checked to ensure good visibility. If your wiper blades have deteriorated and leave streaks across the windscreen, this could also result in your car failing it’s MOT.Book a Service
Car Exhaust Repair
As an essential part of your vehicle, your exhaust will undergo strong thermal and mechanical stresses. Acidic exhaust fumes and high temperatures can attack the internal wall of the exhaust system, whilst external corrosion can be caused by rain or dirt. Older exhausts can come loose from their supports over time due to vibrations caused by driving.
It is important to have your exhaust checked regularly by a trained technician as any damage to the exhaust may cause your emissions to increase, resulting in an MOT failure.Book a Service
Timing Belt & Cambelt Change
The movement of pistons and valves inside the engine is synchronised by the timing belt. If the timing belt is damaged, it could break or snap and severely damage your engine.
Every manufacturer will have their own recommendations or mileage limits for replacing your timing belts which is important to follow as it is very difficult to tell when your timing belt is about to go.
Most manufacturers would generally advice to have the timing belt changed between 70,000 and 100,000 miles and on some vehicles the timing belt may require additional items to be replaced at the same time, such as the water pump.Book a Service
Shock Absorbers & Suspension Repairs
Your cars suspension system relies on many components including suspension arms and rods, but the two main components are the springs and shock absorbers. You may find that springs last the lifetime of your vehicle, however, as the shock absorbers are constantly moving, they can wear out overtime.
If you notice any change in your vehicles handling or road holding ability, you should have your suspension checked for any damage.Book a Service

Have you checked your oil?
Engine oil reduces friction and wear on the moving parts inside your engine. As it does so, the oil helps to remove residual impurities and cool the mechanical components of your engine.
Whilst your oil filter removes impurities, the quality of your engine oil degrades over time, meaning it will need to be drained and replaced at regular intervals. How often this will be required is dependent on several factors, including the make and model of your vehicle, your driving style and annual mileage. In general, we would recommend customers to have a service every year or approximately 9,000 miles whichever comes first.Book a Service
